Tanzanite is a beautiful crystal that only originates from a tiny location in the Kilimanjaro area of Tanzania, East Africa. It has many magical qualities, being glassy, gemmy, casting rainbows and most impressive of all, dichroism and pleochroism.  This is the ability for the crystal to change color according to the direction of light being refracted throughout its interior.

Tanzanite is also a crystal on borrowed time. Since there is only one source area on the planet, the mines are expected to run out in our lifetime, making it an excellent investment stone.
